Two construction workers were killed and two others were injured in an equipment accident Thursday morning at Denton County Transportation Authority’s Hebron Park and Ride station, which is currently under construction, in the Dallas area.
The park-and-ride facility is scheduled to open in December but construction is suspended at the site while the investigation continues into the tragic accident, said James Cline, Denton county Transportation Authority president.
A concrete pumping truck, operated by Central Concrete Pumping, collapsed onto the four workers, who were finishing pavement under the funnel. The collapsed boom trapped the four workers. Two workers killed and two were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No names have been released at this time.
It appears the boom from the concrete pumping truck had some type of failure, which caused it to collapse, said Dee Leggett, spokeswoman for the DCTA.
All four workers were employed by Reliable Concrete, the company working with the main contractor for Denton County Transportation Authority.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Lewisville police are investigating the accident.
