General Electric, working in cooperation of the CSPC, has issued a voluntary recall of food processors sold by Walmart Stores.
According to the company, the safety interlock system on the unit can fail. Running the unit without the lid properly secured, poses an injury hazard to the user. The company also warned that the product could emit smoke and/or catch fire.
To this date, the company has received 58 reports of injury and incidents. 24 reports involved injuries to fingertips; and 34 reports involved the unit smoking, including three reported fires.
More than 250,000 GE-brand digital, 14-cup food processors that carry model number 169203 are included in this recall. They were sold at Walmart stores nationwide. For photos of the recalled units, please visit the CPSC Web site.
Consumers should return the recalled unit to any Walmart store for a refund. For more information about this recall call Walmart Customer Service at (877) 207-0923 or visit them online at www.walmartstores.com/recalls.
