Phil&Ted USA, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, have issued a voluntary recall of jogging strollers to repair a defect in the hinge mechanism that poses an injury risk to consumers.
The recall was prompted after the company received three reports of incidents which resulted in injuries to the adult users. One incident included a finger tip amputation. The other reports involved lacerations. Approximately 22,000 models were sold in the United States.
The recall involves phil&teds brand Sport v2 and Classic v1 model strollers, both foldable three-wheeled strollers. The serial numbers for the Sports V2 recall are; 0308/0001 to 0510/0840. The Classic V1 was only sold in red, and the serial numbers involved in the recall are; 0308/001-0510/0906.
Consumers are urged to stop using the recalled strollers and to contact phil&ted USA at (877) 432-1642 for a free hinge-cover kit and repair instructions.
