Craft Kits Recalled Due to Excessive Lead

Comments Off

FloraCraft Corp., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a voluntary recall of 930,000 Solar System Kits and DNA Kits, because the kit wires contain excessive levels of lead.

Lead is known to cause neurological damage to young children. It is ingested either by placing the toys or objects in the child’s mouth or from lead dust that is ingested through normal hand to mouth contact.

To date, there have been no reports of incidents related to the recalled items.

The recall involves “Solar System” and “DNA” children’s educational craft kits under the FloraCraft and HYGLOSS brand names. The following model numbers are included in the recall:

The kits were sold nationwide at Jo-Ann Stores, Wal-Mart, Michaels and other retailers.

Consumers should take the kit wires from children and contact the company for a free replacement.
